Claire Hermitage – Director of Childcare

Claire gained a B-Tec National Diploma in Children’s care and education in 1997, when she then joined the Forbury Gardens Day Nursery as a newly qualified Nursery Nurse. Since then Claire has held different positions within the company, with all ages of children and took on the position of Nursery Manager in 2002 at Forbury Gardens Day Nursery.

In 2011, Claire was involved in setting up the Berkeley Gardens Day Nursery, our 2nd Nursery also in Reading and also managed this new setting, which has become very successful with over 100 children attending. As the Nursery grew, Claire then took on the position of Director of Childcare supporting both the Forbury and Berkeley Gardens Day Nurseries. In 2013 Newbury Gardens Day Nursery was opened and continues to grow. During this time Claire has gained lots of experience and helped other staff to develop their skills to become practitioners with great knowledge and experience and advance their skills with further training.

Claire has certificates in First Aid, Safeguarding, Health and Safety and has attended lots of other short courses relevant to care and education in the early years.
Most recently Claire has completed the level 5 in leadership and Management.

Claire is determined to ensure that all children within the Forbury Group of Nurseries can develop to their full potential and be well prepared for their next transition into schools or other settings.
