Development

The Nursery is a place where the children can make friends, have fun, discover, create and explore. They will have plenty of opportunity for free play where they can make their own decisions and develop independence.

They are all encouraged to explore the toys, materials and media. All of our equipment is chosen for it’s good design and educational stimulation. There is an opportunity for Heuristic Play with our household items and parents are welcome to contribute to our collection.

We offer water play, sand, clay, dough and painting plus a variety of other materials depending on the age of the children. We encourage staff to allow the children to lead their own learning.

We allow educational television and radio, audio tapes and video. IT equipment such as IPads, cameras and computers are available to aid children’s technological skills. With this structured learning, the children develop scientific and technical problem solving. We introduce them to mathematical concepts, develop their pre-reading and pre-writing skills and increase their communication skills.

We give each child equal opportunity to benefit from these activities and experiences. All children have the opportunity for plenty of fresh air and outdoor play where possible the older children of the Nursery have a free flow system which allows them to play either inside or outside. Children are also taken on outings.
